Yavru bir kedi, annesi ve diğer kardeşleriyle dışarıda gezerken yanlışlıkla onlardan ayrılır ve bu yüzden onları kaybeder. Youhei adlı genç çocuk, parkta oynarken kediyi bulur ve ailesine söyler. Youhei'nin ailesi de yavru kediyi çok sever ve apartmanlarında hayvan beslemek yasak olduklarını bildikleri halde kediyi evlerinde beslemeye başlarlar. Ailece yavru kediye Chi adını koyarlar. Chi ilk başlarda annesini özleyip bir çok defa ona gitmeye çalışsa da yeni ailesinin yanında yaşamaya alışır. Yeni ailesinin yanında her gün yeni bir şeyler öğrenir ve bir o kadar da karmaşaya neden olur. Ayrıca , Chi, yeni ailesiyle mutluluğu, sevgiyi, arkadaşlığı ve aile sıcaklığını öğrenir.
